Enciclopèdia Catalana és l'entitat cultural que encapçala el Grup format per diferents empreses editorials, l'objectiu de les quals és promocionar la llengua i la cultura catalanes especialment mitjançant l'edició d'enciclopèdies, llibres de consulta, diccionaris, llibres infantils i juvenils, llibres de text i obres de literatura catalana i universal. La Fundació Enciclopèdia Catalana té una continuada activitat cultural en l'àmbit de la difusió i la promoció cultural i recolza alguns dels més importants premis literaris en català: Sant Jordi, de novel·la; Carles Riba, de poesia; Joaquim Ruyra, de novel·la juvenil; Mercè Rodoreda, de contes i narracions, Folch i Torres, de novel·la infantil i Carlemany, de novel·la. També convoca diversos ajuts a la creació i a la investigació, tant en la recerca humanística com en les ciències socials, i té distintes activitats adreçades als professors i alumnes dels diferents cicles educatius, com ara beques. La Fundació Enciclopèdia Catalana col.labora amb altres entitats culturals com: Òmnium Cultural, Acció Cultural del País Valencià, Amics del Liceu, Amics de la Ciutat, Pen Club, Associació d'Escriptors en Llengua Catalana, etc.         Fundació Enciclopèdia Catalana is the cultural organization that leads the publishing group Catalan Encyclopedia, first in Catalan language. The group is formed by different publishing companies whose objective is to promote the Catalan language and the culture, specially by means of the editing: encyclopedias, dictionaries (like the Catalan-Spanish-English Hyperdictionary), text books and works of Catalan and universal Literature. Between the foreign authors translated to the Catalan, we have published classic authors (Gustave Flaubert, J.W. Goethe, Franz Kafka, Honoré de Balzac, Virginia Woolf, Albert Camus, William Faulkner) and the most outstanding authors of our present: George Steiner, Isaiah Berlin, Amin Maalouf, Marguerite Yourcenar, Elias Canetti, Paul Auster or Lynn Margulis. The intention of diffusion of our culture in the outside has impelled the beginning of the Hyperencyclopaedia. This is the most comprehensive collection of terms related to Catalonia: its towns and cities, history, most outstanding personalities, and characteristics. Taken directly from the documentary collections of the Gran Enciclopèdia Catalana, the first encyclopaedia of universal scope ever written in Catalan about Catalonia, this work will now be available to the public in English (http://www.catalanencyclopaedia.com). Fundació Enciclopèdia Catalana has a continued cultural activity and emphasizes, specially, its support to some of the more important literary prizes in Catalan: Sant Jordi, of novel; Carles Riba, of poetry; Joaquim Ruyra, of novel for children; Mercè Rodoreda, of stories and narrations, etcetera. Also it summons diverse aids to the creation and the investigation, in social humanities and sciences, and promotes different activities directed to professors and students from different educative cycles: scholarships, courses and factories of writing.
